The Sociology Department provides a Master of Arts program. This curriculum includes a general sociology track, mandatory classes in advanced statistics, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and social theory, with an opportunity to specialize in medical sociology.
The Medical Sociology specialization prepares students for research and policy roles in healthcare organizations, mental health services, and social agencies, or for pursuing doctoral studies in medical sociology. The curriculum explores health, illness, disabilities, mental health concerns, healthcare systems, and health inequalities.
The 36-credit graduate degree can be finished in two to three years, with an optional thesis.
