The Gender, Race, and Identity Certificate is a 12-credit interdisciplinary program that deepens students' comprehension of identity formation and intersectionality. This curriculum integrates diverse academic fields to introduce learners to various theoretical frameworks and research approaches used in scholarship, teaching, and careers focused on multicultural community experiences. Concepts surrounding gender, race, and diversity have significantly influenced historical events, policy decisions, and personal identities globally. This certificate equips participants with advanced knowledge of these dynamics, serving as a beneficial credential for students and professionals across numerous disciplines. The program enhances pursuits in academia, business, counseling, education, government, healthcare, international affairs, media, activism, public relations, research, social services, and more.
The GRI Certificate offers two completion paths. Current UNR graduate students can integrate the certificate into their existing degree plans, potentially adding courses to fulfill both programs' requirements. Non-degree-seeking students may pursue the certificate independently through Graduate Special status. Participants can transfer up to 12 Graduate Special credits toward UNR's GRI master's program or other graduate degrees.
This graduate certificate aims to deliver interdisciplinary education about intersecting identities, strengthening academic programs across the university while benefiting students
