The program focuses on building expertise in both theoretical principles and qualitative/quantitative research methods for fundamental and practical studies. While students aren't required to select a specialization, available focus areas encompass psychology and law, interpersonal dynamics, health-related social psychology, and organizational behavior. The curriculum weaves gender studies, cultural perspectives, and developmental topics throughout each specialization. New students establish advisory relationships with program faculty. The program actively promotes student involvement in academic research, frequently partnering with professors, presenting at conferences, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Beyond the University's graduate student resources, the social psychology Ph.D. program provides dedicated funding for student research projects and academic travel.
