Cognitive engineering is an interdisciplinary field focused on studying, creating, and assessing complex systems involving both humans and technology. This area of research integrates insights from human factors, cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, and systems engineering. The program offers cross-disciplinary education in key methodologies and tools for examining human cognitive abilities and constraints, and how these influence interactive system design. It also addresses design strategies for technological development within sociotechnical environments. The curriculum establishes essential groundwork for meaningful doctoral research in cognitive engineering analysis, human performance evaluation, human-computer systems, and human-systems integration.
