The Human Factors and Cognitive Psychology Ph.D. program, accredited by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, welcomes applicants holding a bachelor's or master's degree in psychology or related fields. This specialized track cultivates expertise in designing, executing, and implementing human factors and cognitive psychology research across diverse professional environments. Following the American Psychological Association's (APA) scientist-practitioner framework, the program aligns with educational standards set by APA's Division 21 (Applied Experimental and Engineering Psychology). The curriculum incorporates research projects, consulting opportunities, and practical internships. Participants gain proficiency in human factors methodologies, including statistical analysis, experimental approaches, survey techniques, computational tools, and other research strategies. Students can focus their studies on specialized domains such as human-computer interaction, human-machine-environment systems, performance psychology, simulation training applications, or other approved concentrations. Completion requires an original dissertation that advances knowledge in the field.
