Students pursuing the Acting Specialization receive comprehensive training across diverse theatrical approaches. Our program starts with Stanislavski's foundational principles of character-driven action, objectives, and authenticity. The coursework then progresses to explore psychological realism through the lens of the American Method, balanced with technical classes that cultivate vocal and physical expressiveness. These abilities are integrated and put into practice through Shakespearean works and more stylized performance genres. Practical experience is gained through main stage productions where undergraduates enjoy exclusive casting privileges without graduate student competition. Emerging actors benefit from personalized faculty guidance that fosters both individual development and ensemble work. Recognizing that acting requires understanding of psychology, history, and linguistics, the specialization is strengthened by a broad liberal arts foundation, along with specialized training for professional theater careers or advanced academic study.
