The Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Design and Technology is designed for students aiming to establish specialized careers in professional theater after graduation. This track delivers comprehensive theater training combined with focused, hands-on preparation across all design and technical disciplines. During their initial two years, students collaborate closely with faculty as design or technical assistants, progressing to leadership roles such as prop master, master electrician, first hand, draper, scenic artist, master carpenter, or technical director. Qualified students may secure design roles within productions. The curriculum emphasizes mastery in scenery, costumes, lighting, and sound design through targeted coursework, followed by concentrated specialization in one or two areas during junior and senior years to build professional portfolios. The program concludes with a professional internship, allowing students to apply their skills in real-world settings. While many graduates enter the workforce directly, the BFA also serves as strong preparation for advanced theater studies. Due to the program's rigorous demands, balancing part-time studies or external employment is highly difficult. Admission and continuation standards are stringent, with production assignments carefully structured to align artistic development with classroom learning.
