Stage managers excel as expert collaborators and facilitators. Their true strengths emerge in fostering creativity, harmonizing varied artistic temperaments, and sustaining an uplifting atmosphere. Meticulously organized, dependable, diplomatic, flexible, and composed in demanding situations, they serve as the foundation of every production. Versatile by nature, stage managers demonstrate empathy and insight toward their colleagues' creative workflows.

The stage management program underscores the value of comprehensive knowledge by mandating coursework in directing, technical production, set design, costuming, and lighting. Additional managerial facets are explored, such as overseeing productions, managing companies, and handling audience services.

The curriculum further highlights entertainment industry management through collaboration with UNLV's prestigious School of Hotel Administration. Stage managers find career prospects across theatrical productions, as well as in dance and musical performances.

Qualification Requirements

Transcripts from all postsecondary institutions attended, showing an undergraduate degree in theatre and the date awarded. (An acceptable alternative undergraduate major coupled with satisfactory practical experience in theatre may be deemed equivalent to an undergraduate major in theatre.)
Bachelor's Degree - You must hold a four-year baccalaureate from a regionally accredited institution or an approved equivalent.

Grade Point Average - You must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75 (4.00=A) for the bachelor's degree or a minimum 3.00 (4.00=A) for the last two years (60 semester hours). Applicants with international academic work can use Scholaro to estimate their U.S. GPA calculation. While Scholaro can provide an approximate representation of your converted U.S. GPA, it does not replace the comprehensive evaluation of academic coursework conducted by the UNLV Office of Admissions. Our GPA calculation and credential equivalency review are still essential in the admission process. UNLV's evaluation may differ from the results generated by this tool.

Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
