The University of Missouri SVS Art Program provides outstanding faculty along with ample space, time, and resources for students to maximize their creative potential. Graduate students frequently utilize the program's 8,000 square feet of recently updated on-campus studio space. Situated in Columbia, Missouri—midway between the cultural hubs of Kansas City and St. Louis—our three-year MFA program offers emerging artists the freedom to develop compelling, competitive work that addresses current topics in contemporary art.

Eligible MFA students are awarded teaching or technical assistantships along with full tuition coverage. These opportunities, paired with our central location, enable talented candidates to minimize student debt. Columbia boasts an unusually low cost of living while offering rich cultural diversity, progressive values, three academic institutions, a vibrant music scene, cozy cafes and bars, and the renowned True/False documentary film festival. Students also benefit from proximity to two major art cities and an extensive network of scenic riverside bike paths spanning the community and beyond.
