The Doctor of Musical Arts program in Performance offers specializations in brass, conducting, percussion, piano, strings, voice, and woodwinds, designed for musicians aiming to reach the highest academic and professional standards in music.
Program Objectives
Graduates of the UNLV School of Music's Doctor of Musical Arts program will achieve the following:
Exhibit exceptional performance or conducting abilities in their chosen specialization, meeting professional standards.
Apply historical and theoretical knowledge to develop unique interpretations across diverse musical styles.
Show in-depth familiarity with the evolution of their instrument or conducting field, along with mastery of specialized repertoire.
Utilize comprehensive music research resources and demonstrate scholarly capabilities to effectively present and defend research findings in their specialization.

Qualification Requirements
An overall undergraduate GPA and master's GPA of at least 2.75 (or 3.00 in the last two years of undergraduate study).
An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 in music.
Bachelor's Degree - You must hold a four-year baccalaureate from a regionally accredited institution or an approved equivalent.
Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
