The School of Art, Art History, and Design provides Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) programs in studio art and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees in art history. Students pursuing an M.F.A. can specialize in various studio disciplines, including ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture—either individually or through interdisciplinary combinations. Graduate students receive shared studio spaces along with access to communal work areas, digital labs, and a fully outfitted woodworking facility. The department's creative environment is enhanced by the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden, featuring an exceptional university-held collection of 20th-century American art. Additional cultural resources include the Lentz Center for Asian Culture, the Great Plains Art Collection, and the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery, all hosting rotating exhibitions and educational programs.

English Proficiency: Applicants to the Office of Graduate Studies whose native language is not English are required to submit a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL, 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall band score of at least 6.5.
