The Great Plains Studies interdisciplinary specialization promotes research on communities and ecosystems across the sparsely inhabited Great Plains region. This expansive area extends west from the Missouri River to the Rocky Mountains and reaches north from the Rio Grande into Canada's prairie provinces. Administered through the College of Arts and Sciences and supported by the Center for Great Plains Studies - an intercollegiate research hub authorized by the University of Nebraska Board of Regents - this program serves all university campuses. Graduate students pursuing degrees in UNL programs including Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Leadership, Agronomy, Anthropology/Geography, Architecture, Communication Studies, Community Planning, Economics, English, Geosciences, History, Natural Resources, Education, or Textile Design may qualify for this specialization.
