Earning a graduate degree in history offers both personal growth and career advantages, fostering a profound comprehension of historical events while enhancing awareness of modern complexities. Professionally, it creates diverse career opportunities.

An M.A. in History is typically necessary for teaching at community colleges and serves as valuable preparation for instructing history and social sciences in high schools. Graduates of the M.A. program will refine critical thinking, analysis, and writing abilities that are beneficial across multiple professions. For those contemplating a Ph.D. in history with aspirations of university teaching, the M.A. program provides essential groundwork and insight into doctoral studies. While foreign language proficiency isn't mandatory, students are highly advised to cultivate reading skills in a non-English language.
