The UNL Developmental Psychology graduate program offers a multidisciplinary, research-focused approach to studying developmental processes within cultural, policy, and educational contexts. This doctoral program prepares students for scientific careers encompassing research, teaching, and practical applications. Graduate training benefits from comprehensive support including assistantships, research funding, and conference travel grants. The curriculum examines the environmental factors influencing children's social and cognitive growth. Our faculty specialize in childhood and adolescent development across cognitive, moral, and social domains, connecting their expertise to policy matters like child welfare, adolescent behavior, cultural influences on identity formation, and educational development. Faculty research frequently involves diverse ethnic and cultural populations both domestically and globally. This collaborative initiative brings together developmental specialists from Psychology, Educational Psychology departments, and researchers from the Center for Children, Families, and Law.
