The MSPhD program offers three primary tracks: Clinical Psychology (APA accredited), School Psychology (APA accredited), and Experimental Psychology. These doctoral programs feature five key research specializations: Clinical Health Psychology; Behavioral Neuroscience; Child and Family Studies; Cognitive Psychology; and Psychotherapy Research. Prospective students with different research interests should reach out to the department for details. All programs require the MS as a prerequisite for doctoral studies. Advancement to PhD candidacy requires successful completion of an empirical psychology thesis either at The University of Memphis or through an equivalent program elsewhere. Candidates holding a non-thesis master's degree must complete a thesis before beginning doctoral work. The program mandates at least 33 graduate credit hours post-bachelor's for the MS in Psychology and a minimum of 80 graduate credit hours beyond the bachelor's for the PhD in Psychology.
