The Grazing Livestock Systems (GLS) degree is designed for students pursuing careers in forage/livestock operation management or related educational and industry positions. This program skillfully combines animal science, forage/range sciences, and agricultural economics through a structured curriculum, seminars, mandatory practical internships, and a culminating senior capstone course titled Livestock Management on Range and Pasture. Past internships have included placements at private farms, cattle operations, government agencies, university research facilities, and extension programs. Students can focus on ruminant livestock, forage/range management, or agricultural economics while maintaining a systems-based approach. The program's faculty includes two animal science specialists, two forage/range experts, and one agricultural economist, supported by an industry advisory board that ensures curriculum relevance to current sector demands.
