The English Department aims to cultivate students' abilities in critical analysis, composition, and reasoning. Furthermore, we strive to nurture creative thinking—what we describe as employing imagination to explore hypothetical scenarios across time and space, from historical contexts to contemporary issues, from local settings to international perspectives. This skill, developed through examining varied literary works and films, critically evaluating language, and producing original creative pieces, empowers students to meaningfully interact with societal, cultural, and political realities. It encourages students to challenge existing paradigms and envision bold solutions to complex challenges. Creative thinking serves as both a principle and a capability that fosters human connection and inspires us to transcend limitations, including those of our individual perspectives and immediate social circles.
