The standard Ph.D. track (Option 1) develops experts in mathematical sciences research. Our department provides specialized training in various fields including algebra, mathematical analysis (covering real, complex, and functional analysis), applied mathematics (encompassing biomathematics and differential equations), combinatorics & optimization, computer science (a collaborative program with the CS department), and topology. Alternatively, our innovative Ph.D. pathway (Option 2) focuses on training mathematics educators and versatile mathematics professionals. This approach prioritizes broader coursework coverage over deep specialization compared to the traditional program. Within this option, students can concentrate on mathematics education as a specific focus area.
