Alongside the B.S. Ed., undergraduates can pursue either a B.A. or B.S. in their field before entering the Graduate School for Master's-level teaching credentials. The College of Education offers Teach in 12, an accelerated one-year post-graduate certification program, alongside traditional certification routes. Certification graduate credits may count toward a Master's in Secondary Education with supplementary coursework. Prospective Master's-level teacher candidates should reach out to the College of Education's advising office (OASIS) at 314-516-5937. Important: DESE mandates a 3.0 GPA in both discipline-specific and professional education courses, plus a 2.75 cumulative GPA for certification.
The biology B.A. program equips students for entry-level technical roles and advanced studies in life sciences. Degree candidates share core courses and general education requirements with Bachelor of Science seekers but focus more on liberal arts than science electives.
