The ScB in Biology program consists of 20 required courses. Foundational math, chemistry, and physics prerequisites lead into a core curriculum of biology (including neuroscience) courses, with opportunities to explore related scientific disciplines. Students select a specialized track comprising three additional courses in one of several subfields: Cellular and Molecular Biology, Immunopathology, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Physiology/BioTech, Neurobiology, Marine Biology, or Physical Sciences. The core curriculum includes distribution requirements to ensure broad biological knowledge, along with mandatory laboratory and advanced coursework. Research forms an essential component of the ScB Program and should align with the chosen track's focus. All concentration courses must be taken for letter grades (ABC/NC), though students may consult their advisor about potential S/NC exceptions under special circumstances. Advisor approval is mandatory before registering any concentration course as S/NC (with the exception of courses designated as mandatory S/NC).
