The Juris Doctor (J.D.) is a three-year graduate program in law. To earn this degree, students need to complete 89 credit hours of legal studies, with approximately half being mandatory courses.
The Faculty of Law grants the Juris Doctor degree to students who meet these requirements:
1. Complete at least three academic years (or equivalent) of full-time legal education, with a minimum of two years at this institution. Full-time status requires enrollment in 12+ credits per semester or 6+ credits per summer session. Part-time students earn residency credit proportionally. During summer terms, students can acquire up to seven residency credits, with a maximum of twelve summer credits counting toward accelerated graduation (completed in under three years).
2. Pass all required courses unless specific requirements have been officially waived.
