The MU Art Education PhD program equips students for academic research and educator training roles in universities, along with leadership opportunities across diverse learning environments. Participants enhance their teaching methods while investigating contemporary art education issues and gaining specialized skills in designing, executing, and presenting arts-related research. Each student collaborates with faculty advisors to create a customized curriculum tailored to their prior knowledge, professional background, and career aspirations. While most MU PhD alumni secure faculty positions in Art and Art Education departments within higher education institutions, others pursue leadership roles in museum administration or arts organizations.
