The Division of Biological Sciences provides an exceptional blend of cutting-edge research, acclaimed graduate and undergraduate education, and impactful community engagement. Our research focuses on advancing fundamental scientific understanding while applying discoveries to enhance human health, agricultural systems, and environmental sustainability. Graduate programs foster intellectual curiosity, nurturing independent thinking and analytical abilities under the guidance of leading field experts. Recognizing the importance of early STEM exposure, we provide specialized outreach initiatives for Missouri's K-12 educators, students, and community members. The division primarily awards PhD degrees, with research spanning evolutionary biology, ecology, genetics, cellular/molecular biology, neurobiology, and plant sciences. Students can tailor specialized graduate studies in areas like plant genomics, arthropod chemical signaling, or neural mechanisms.
