The biology and society PhD concentration explores interdisciplinary topics where biological and social aspects intersect, offering customized study plans. This program combines a strong grounding in life sciences with interdisciplinary analytical training. Students can choose from four specialized tracks:
Bioethics, policy and law --- Examines ethical dilemmas, legal frameworks, and policy challenges emerging from advances in biosciences and medicine.
History and philosophy of science --- Investigates the conceptual underpinnings of scientific inquiry, including epistemological approaches and methodological frameworks.
Ecology, economics and environmental ethics --- Develops theoretical and empirical tools for creating policies that promote ecological sustainability and social equity.
Biology education research --- Applies educational research methodologies to enhance undergraduate biology teaching and learning outcomes.
