The University of Missouri's Geographic Information Science (GIS) Certificate is an interdisciplinary curriculum that equips undergraduate and graduate students with the essential theoretical, practical, and technical abilities for spatial data analysis.
This program benefits students from diverse academic backgrounds by enabling them to master the use and implementation of GIS technologies through adaptable course selections and practical learning opportunities. It delivers the necessary instruction and hands-on practice to equip students for the fast-growing career prospects in the many fields reliant on geographic information.
Open to all University of Missouri students, the program mandates the completion of 15 credit hours from approved courses, encompassing 1) Foundation courses, 2) Theoretical Breadth courses, 3) Technical Breadth and Application courses, and 4) a Capstone Experience. These courses are offered by departments including Geography, Natural Resources, and Engineering. A minimum grade average of B (3.0) is required in these courses.
