The Master of Arts (MA) program equips students for advanced research by offering coursework in research methodologies, rhetorical studies, composition theory, teaching practices, and technical communication with a focus on technology and cultural impacts. This foundation is enhanced through specialized electives and interdisciplinary classes outside the department, ensuring graduates develop comprehensive expertise. Designed as a two-year curriculum, the MA in rhetoric and scientific/technical communication trains scholars to tackle intricate challenges at the intersection of language, science, and technology. The program's rigorous seminar-based approach develops doctoral readiness while allowing students to expand their perspectives through cross-departmental studies. Candidates culminate their degree by producing a focused research paper and defending it during an oral examination.
