For more than ten years, our Rhetoric and Composition program has stood at the forefront nationally. Students entering Penn State's rhetoric program not only develop cutting-edge expertise in rhetorical history, theory, criticism, and teaching methods, but also join a vibrant academic community where multiple disciplines intersect - including rhetorical studies, composition studies, technology studies, literary studies, gender studies, African American studies, Latino/a studies, science studies, and cultural studies. The program offers graduate students a robust foundation in rhetorical studies, access to a distinguished and diverse rhetoric faculty (spanning both English and Communication Arts and Sciences), collaborative research opportunities, varied teaching experiences, and a supportive network of engaged graduate peers. Faculty maintain close mentorship with all rhetoric students, who develop innovative dissertation projects and establish professional presence through conferences and publications.
