The Master of Architecture degree serves as the professional qualification for aspiring licensed architects. As outlined below, the M. Arch. program offers multiple entry points tailored to different academic backgrounds. Our primary three-year professional track is designed for students without prior architectural training, including those who haven't completed pre-professional architecture degrees with comprehensive studio and technical coursework. Typical candidates for this pathway come from diverse fields such as fine arts, biology, literature, earth sciences, art history, physics, and related disciplines. The three-year curriculum also suits students with some architectural exposure but lacking a formal pre-professional Bachelor of Science in Architecture or equivalent qualification. Notably, this program is particularly well-suited for graduates of our own University of Minnesota's BDA program.
Anyone who has or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S. or a comparable degree from an officially recognized college or university outside the U.S. may apply for graduate admission.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.
