The Occupational Therapy (OT) program spans 37 months, comprising 116 graduate-level credits across nine semesters.
This entry-level occupational therapy doctoral program holds accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), part of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). ACOTE's offices are at 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. You can reach ACOTE through AOTA at (301) 652-AOTA or visit their website at www.acoteonline.org. Upon graduation, students qualify to take the national certification exam for occupational therapists, conducted by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Passing this exam grants the title of Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). While all states mandate licensure for practice, most base their requirements on NBCOT exam results. Be aware that felony convictions could impact eligibility for both the NBCOT exam and state licensure.
The preferred undergraduate GPA for admittance to the program is 3.00.
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree completed prior to fall enrollment in order to apply to the OTD. There is no preference of undergraduate major.
Applicants seeking OT BS, BA, MS in OT, or MOT credit by experience must hold the appropriate degree to receive credit.
