The Department of Writing Studies provides a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Writing and Communication (TWC). This program blends theoretical knowledge and practical skills in written, digital, verbal, and visual communication across scientific and technological fields. Core WRIT classes cover writing and editing techniques, rhetorical principles, visual communication and document layout, user experience, and professional technical writing standards. Learners pair these foundational WRIT courses with specialized tracks in either technology or science, choosing from four concentrations: information systems and design, biomedical sciences, legal language and public affairs, or ecological studies. For academic guidance, reach out to the Technical Writing and Communication Program's Assistant Director at the Department of Writing Studies, located in Nolte Center room 202.
