The Chicago School of Literary Criticism revolutionized art interpretation, elevating the University to a leading intellectual hub. Recognized among the top 10 out of 127 English programs nationwide by the National Research Council, the department's scholars shape literary discourse through research in Marxist and gender studies, Tudor theater, and visual-verbal art comparisons. The English Language and Literature undergraduate program enables deep exploration of English-language literature, drama, and cinema. Curriculum examines core concepts including literature's cultural role, historical literary movements, renowned authors' contributions, genre characteristics, interpretive politics, artistic merits of texts, and scholarly research methodologies.
Students are required to have high school equivalent of US qualification.
Applicants are required to have score of 100 or higher on the Internet-Based TOEFL or 600 or higher on the Paper-Based TOEFL. Minimum required scores on the IELTS are an overall score of 7.0, with subs cores of 7.0 each. The minimum acceptable score on the PTE is 70
