Tailored for students passionate about visual arts and theater who aspire to craft unique performance works. Interarts students explore various artistic mediums and innovative techniques to produce boundary-defying creations that merge visual and performing arts. This cross-disciplinary program is a collaboration between the Stamps School of Art & Design and the Department of Theatre & Drama within the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. SMTD provides extensive performance possibilities across all disciplines—with hundreds of student showcases annually in our renowned concert venues, theaters, and cozy recital spaces. Musical offerings span from intimate chamber groups to full 90-member orchestras and bands, plus diverse choral arrangements. Whether your interest lies in historical, classical, or modern music—or if jazz, electronic, or global sounds inspire you—there are ensembles (often multiple options) matching every preference, including specialized groups for percussion, piano, and organ & carillon. Theatre, musical theater, dance, and opera present numerous opportunities through both professional productions and student-led performances.
