The Philosophy major offers undergraduates comprehensive exposure to key aspects of the field, encompassing philosophical history, ethics and political philosophy, as well as domains exploring cognition, language, existence, and formal logic. The program features thoughtfully designed intermediate courses that help students progress smoothly from introductory to higher-level philosophical studies. Students enjoy significant freedom to customize their academic path while being required to complete at least two advanced 400-level courses. Through philosophical study, learners hone essential analytical and communication skills for evaluating concepts and arguments. The discipline embraces diverse intellectual pursuits, allowing nearly any subject—from mathematics and law to theology and artificial intelligence—to be examined through a philosophical perspective. Many philosophy students discover both personal fulfillment and professional advantages, often excelling in graduate studies and various career paths including technology, media, healthcare, and public sector roles.
