Evolutionary Anthropology incorporates courses from multiple departments including Anthropology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology, Psychology, and the School of Natural Resources and Environment. This interdisciplinary program merges anthropological and biological approaches to examine humans and related species. It's especially suitable for students aiming for health science careers or those focused on organismal biology and ecology. Consequently, many Evolutionary Anthropology students prepare for medical school, while others target professions in conservation, wildlife management, animal behavior studies, and related areas. With evolutionary biology as its core theoretical foundation, the major doesn't mandate coursework in other anthropology subfields. Students drawn to biological anthropology who desire comprehensive training across archaeological, linguistic, and sociocultural anthropology can opt for the broader Anthropology major.
