As part of its commitment to gathering, developing, and sharing knowledge in Psychological and Biobehavioral Sciences, the Department maintains a careful equilibrium among multiple academic pursuits such as: education (including undergraduate, graduate, faculty advancement, and professional instruction), scientific investigation (spanning both fundamental and practical research), and public engagement. With 50 faculty members and 146 administrative and research personnel, the Department oversees widespread research and service initiatives across Miami's culturally rich communities. Its research initiatives are nationally recognized, consistently ranking among psychology departments receiving the highest NIH funding. The clinical psychology graduate program has maintained uninterrupted APA accreditation since 1966 and is regularly counted among the nation's premier clinical programs. Additionally, the Department's Behavioral Medicine Research Center serves as a thriving interdisciplinary hub that promotes cooperative research within healthcare environments.
