Founded in 1948 as South Florida's inaugural bachelor's degree program in nursing, the School of Nursing and Health Studies boasts a longstanding heritage of training healthcare providers to deliver skilled, empathetic care to diverse populations locally and worldwide. Situated where the Caribbean meets the Americas, the University of Miami offers a distinctive multicultural setting for education and clinical practice. The institution serves some of the nation's most ethnically diverse communities facing significant health challenges. Our nursing education benefits from partnerships with a top-tier academic medical center, a private acute care facility, and a public hospital system dedicated to teaching. With connections to more than 170 clinical affiliates, the school collaborates with prestigious institutions including: UM Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, a leading academic medical center; University of Miami Hospital, a 560-bed private acute care facility; and UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital, a 1,567-bed public teaching hospital in urban Miami that cares for Florida's largest population of Medicaid recipients and underserved patients.
