The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program equips advanced practice nurses with the skills needed for leadership positions and direct patient care in providing preventive, short-term, and extended mental health services. Participants develop specialized expertise essential for psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) to: evaluate, diagnose, and create treatment plans for mental health conditions and concurrent medical issues; administer therapies including psychotropic medication management; deliver psychotherapy and wellness-focused preventive care to individuals and groups; and assess treatment effectiveness
