The Bachelor of Science in Ecosystem Science and Policy is ideal for students planning to pursue graduate studies or professional programs for careers in research or academia (including secondary and higher education). This program also prepares students for technical roles in government agencies and private sector organizations focused on environmental issues.
BS candidates can select either the STEM or People & Society cognate for their major, while completing the remaining cognate plus the Arts & Humanities requirement. Those with a dual major in another school should consult their advisors about specific requirements. While no single course can satisfy multiple ECS requirements, non-core ECS courses may count toward cognates, minors, or secondary majors. Arts & Sciences students must complete four Writing Intensive (W) courses, with BS in ECS students required to take at least two (and up to four) W-designated ECS courses such as ECS 113, 301, 302, 402, and 403. A maximum of two W courses may be taken outside the department. Students whose primary degree is in another school should adhere to its writing requirements.
