Eligible undergraduate students can choose to participate in a combined degree program, merging their bachelor of arts in urban ecology with a master of arts in the same field. This accelerated program demands completion of 148 semester hours overall, with a minimum of 115 undergraduate hours and 33 graduate hours. The entire program can be finished within five years, incorporating at least one summer term. Those accepted into the MA component may count graduate courses BIOL 200, 224, and 256 toward both degree requirements. With advisor approval, alternative courses may sometimes replace these depending on availability. These 9 graduate hours supplement the standard 115 undergraduate credits, resulting in 124 total hours for the BA degree.
