The University of Memphis Chemistry Department boasts a dynamic faculty team covering all principal chemistry disciplines. Our professors lead innovative, often cross-disciplinary research initiatives supported by funding from local, state, and national organizations such as NIH, NSF, and DoD. This research plays a crucial role in preparing future scientists and educators. Prospective graduate students interested in chemistry are encouraged to explore our graduate assistant opportunities.
Our program goals include: (1) mastering core concepts in your chosen specialization; (2) gaining secondary expertise in a complementary field; (3) honing skills in experimental methodology, data interpretation, and research communication; (4) preparing for professional careers in chemistry. New graduate students must complete six standardized tests (selected from general, analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry) prior to initial registration.
