The goals of the B.A. in African and African American Studies program include: (a) explaining the concept of "diaspora" while outlining the historical significance and global influence of African migration following the Renaissance; (b) analyzing the experiences of African and African American women within broader African, African American, and global contexts; (c) utilizing humanities, social sciences, and arts methodologies to examine African diaspora communities; (d) recognizing connections between traditional African cultural practices and those developed by diaspora communities; (e) examining similarities and differences between African societies and their diaspora counterparts throughout history.
All students, both freshmen and transfer, must apply online for admission as an undergraduate student.
Applicants should upload a copy of their unofficial international transcript or marks sheet (high school/secondary or college/university) using our secure document upload system.
All international transfer applicants must have their international documents evaluated by a US credentialing agency that holds membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
