As a graduate student in organismic and evolutionary biology (OEB), you'll gain comprehensive, interdisciplinary education covering ecology, evolutionary studies, animal behavior, and organismal biology. Our faculty spans multiple university departments, bringing expertise from anthropology, environmental science, kinesiology, psychology and neuroscience, along with collaborations from the Five College consortium (Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith). Students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty investigate biological phenomena across all scales - from molecular mechanisms to entire ecosystems, frequently connecting fundamental research with practical applications.
