The Department of Music and Dance offers graduate music programs designed to prepare students for professional careers across classical and jazz performance, education, music history and theory, conducting, and composition/arranging. The master of music degree provides ten specialized concentrations, along with optional professional certificates in music theory pedagogy, music history pedagogy, and arts management. For those pursuing a PhD in music education, the program focuses on cutting-edge teaching methods, supporting students in developing, publishing research, and gaining substantial hands-on teaching experience.

Qualification Requirements
Prior to their anticipated start date, applicants must complete a bachelor's degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association, or complete an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned. If you obtained your degree from a university outside of the U.S. Please submit your current transcripts from all colleges/universities attended, undergraduate and graduate, where nine (9) or more credits were earned. Current or final unofficial transcripts uploaded to the Additional Materials page of your application are acceptable. Upon admittance, official transcripts will need to be submitted, either electronically or in paper format, directly by each institution's Registrar to the Graduate Student Service Center.
