American Studies graduate students, part of the English Department's interdisciplinary program, explore American literature and culture through diverse lenses. The curriculum includes two foundational seminars on interdisciplinary methodologies, supplemented by courses from related departments, equipping students to conduct comprehensive research aligned with their interests. This concentration offers exceptional flexibility in designing personalized study paths, actively encouraging students to craft unique course combinations, topics, and viewpoints from the outset. While exposing students to various academic approaches, the program emphasizes literary studies, theory, and cultural analysis, establishing a professional foundation in American literature and American studies that's broadened by cross-disciplinary insights.
