The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Community Development (BS-SCD) curriculum offers students a cross-disciplinary grounding in natural and social sciences alongside design and digital disciplines, equipping them to address diverse planning and design challenges. The Master of Regional Planning (MRP) program blends theoretical, historical, legal, social, political, economic, and environmental aspects of planning with hands-on learning through studio projects and community engagement. This accelerated five-year program delivers comprehensive training in urban landscape design, management, and planning - covering sustainable development, policy analysis, environmental planning, information technology applications, and other essential planning methods. Graduates of the combined BS-SCD and MRP program will be equipped for careers in public policy, resource management, economic development, and land-use planning across regional, state, and local levels in public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Prospective students interested in the 4+1 option must consult with both undergraduate and graduate program directors, gain separate admission to each program (applying to graduate studies in their fourth year), and fulfill all academic progression standards for both programs.
