The Equine Management program at Stockbridge School combines equine business principles with practical stable operations training. Through rigorous coursework and hands-on learning at Hadley Farm Equine Center, students master both the scientific theories and real-world skills needed for horse care, management, and breeding. This program emphasizes building a thriving equine enterprise by blending industry-specific technical knowledge with sound business strategies. Senior students gain valuable experience by jointly operating Stockbridge Stables, a student-managed boarding facility at Hadley Farm. Additional curriculum includes riding instruction, trainer certification, and young horse development. Beginning fall 2018, this program will transition to Veterinary and Animal Sciences as a four-year degree track. The 2017 incoming class represents the last group of associate degree students admitted through Stockbridge School of Agriculture. Prospective applicants should monitor this page for updates regarding the new Equine Science bachelor's program starting fall 2018 through UMass Amherst.
