The Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI) graduate program, part of the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership, provides Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree options. The department features multiple tailored programs to help students achieve their academic and career objectives, whether in educational research, teaching, supervision, curriculum leadership, teacher preparation, or consulting across all educational levels - from elementary to higher education. Certain M.Ed. specializations prepare students for teacher certification, including pathways for those with non-education bachelor's degrees seeking teaching credentials. Additional M.Ed. tracks cater to current educators and professionals, while research-focused individuals can pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching & Learning, Policy & Leadership (TLPL).
This pathway results in both a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) degree and qualification for Maryland State PreK-12 World Languages Certification, enabling graduates to teach Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, or Spanish in elementary or secondary schools.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
