The Master's Initial Licensure Program in Secondary Education (M.Ed.) caters to bachelor's degree holders from accredited institutions seeking both teaching certification for grades 7-12 and a Master's in Education. This Secondary Education Master's program (MEd) enables aspiring teachers to pursue specialized coursework for middle and high school settings, ensuring they meet all qualifications for their chosen certification field.
The Secondary Education Master's Degree (M.Ed.) provides candidates with comprehensive training in secondary-level instruction, preparing them to excel in their specific licensure specialization.
For those without Nevada teaching credentials, licensure requirements can be integrated into the master's curriculum. Multiple specialization options exist within each track. Washoe County School District's Alternative Route to Licensure (WCSD ARL) participants must select a content area approved by WCSD ARL when entering the M.Ed. program.
Students admitted to post-baccalaureate secondary education licensure programs may simultaneously work toward a graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language.
