The graduate program offering Traditional Master of Arts and Doctorate of Philosophy degrees in Criminology and Criminal Justice equips students for careers in research, academia, and professional roles within criminal justice agencies. This curriculum blends in-depth training in social science fields like criminology, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, and public policy with advanced coursework focused on crime and justice system topics.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
In addition to the general Graduate School rules, special admission requirements include a major in a social science discipline and nine hours of coursework in appropriate areas of criminal justice.
