As a key component of the School of Public Health, the Department of Kinesiology provides graduate programs for both Master of Arts (with thesis and non-thesis tracks) and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The department focuses on three primary research domains: exercise physiology, cognitive motor neuroscience, and physical cultural studies. Students work closely with faculty to design specialized programs aligned with faculty expertise in these areas. For more information about faculty research specialties, visit the department's website. The curriculum fosters a deep appreciation for Kinesiology's interdisciplinary nature and its connection to public health. Students acquire knowledge and hands-on experience through classes, research participation, departmental events, seminars, and professional conference attendance. The PhD program offers concentrations in: Cognitive Motor Neuroscience: Covering motor control, biomechanics, computational neuroscience, sport psychology, and exercise psychophysiology Exercise Physiology: Exploring genetic, molecular, cellular, and applied research in muscular, metabolic, and cardiovascular functions Physical Cultural Studies: Examining physical culture through interdisciplinary lenses, including sport sociology, history, marketing, and media studies
